Marine Coatings

for Hawaiʻi — Salt Air, Submerged Hulls & Potable Water

Marine Coatings

The Marine Environment in Hawaiʻi

Few environments are tougher on metal than the Hawaiʻian coast. Salt water, persistent humidity, strong UV, and constant moisture exposure attack uncoated steel within months. Add the regulatory shift away from copper-based antifouling, and marine operators need a coating system that handles all of it — without dumping toxic chemicals into the water.

The Full SPI Marine System

SPI’s marine line carries approvals from DNV, ABS, the AWWA (American Water Works Association), and the IMO. Different products handle different parts of a vessel:

Marine Antifouling Without Copper

A Moist Metal Grip + Enamo Grip® system delivers permanent non-stick antifouling protection:

Featured Project — Blue Chip Casino Boat

The largest U.S. Coast Guard approved casino vessel ($163M build) used five SPI coatings:

Sound Reduction on Hulls and Walls

Super Therm® cuts sound by 50–68% through hulls and interior walls — useful on wheelhouses, sleeping quarters, and engine compartments where noise is a fatigue issue on long passages.
