The Intumescent Problem

Intumescent coatings expand under heat to form an insulating char. That’s elegant in theory, but the char is fragile: water spray, wind pressure, or impact during a fire event can blow it off the substrate — exactly when fire protection is needed most. The U.S. military has effectively banned intumescents in many applications for this reason.

The Ceramic Solution — Omega Fire

Omega Fire uses eight ceramic compounds in a water-based chemistry to form a pliable, stable shield against direct flame up to 1,200°C (2,200°F). It stays bonded under wind, water, and pressure — and continues working through the duration of a fire event.

Exterior Use Requires a Topcoat

If applied to an exterior surface, Omega Fire must be top-coated with Enamo Grip® or Super Therm® for UV and weather protection.
