Live Hot Pipe Coatings

Insulate Without Shutting Down

Live Hot Pipe Coatings

The Shutdown Problem

Traditional pipe insulation requires the pipe to be cool — which means shutting down the process, draining the line, fitting jacketed wrap, and restarting. For a refinery or paper mill, that downtime costs more than the energy waste they’re trying to fix.

HPC® and HPC®-HT solve the problem at the source: they’re engineered to be sprayed directly onto live, operating pipes — no shutdown, no production loss, no schedule risk.

Temperature Range

ProductRange
HPC® (standard)Up to ~260°C continuous; tested on pipes to 650°C
HPC®-HT232–600°C (450–1,112°F) two-part silicone
HSC™66–176°C — for heat retention

Documented Field Result

A hot pipe operating at 478°C was reduced to a touchable ~60°C exterior surface after HPC® application — without taking the line down.

Below-Grade Pipeline System

For buried pipelines, the HPC®-based non-shielding system addresses Corrosion Under Insulation and cathodic shielding simultaneously. Multi-layer build:

Inspection techniques (LRUT, PEC, PAUT) all pass through the system. EPA Energy Star recognized. Presented at the 2021 SSPC Coatings+ Show in Phoenix.
