Asbestos and lead-paint removal is among the most expensive remediation work in construction. It requires specialty contractors, containment, hazmat protocols, disposal fees, and tenant relocation. For an aging building, the cost of removing the hazard can exceed the cost of replacing the structure.
Rust Grip® is patented (U.S. Patent #5,695,812, December 9, 1997) as a coating that encapsulates existing asbestos and lead paint — sealing the hazardous material in place rather than removing it. A single coat creates a tough, impermeable membrane that prevents the underlying material from being released. Confirm local regulatory acceptance before specifying.
The same moisture-cured polyurethane chemistry that bonds Rust Grip® to existing rust also encapsulates the paint or asbestos layer beneath it. The patent covers this specific encapsulation use. With 6,780 psi tensile adhesion and 15,000+ hour salt-spray resistance, the encapsulation is permanent for the practical life of the structure.

Encapsulation is the right call when: – The hazardous material is non-friable and stable in place – Removal would require relocating occupants – The building has decades of useful life remaining – Code authority accepts encapsulation as compliant
